The Song of Songs employs many senses, frequently the sense of smell. One example is found in 1:13-14, "My lover is to me a sachet of myrrh resting between my breasts. My lover is to me a cluster of henna blossoms from the vineyards of En Gedi." Myrrh was highly prized in the ancient world as an incense and perfume. Henna blossoms were also quite fragrant.
